This meeting will take place in Sackville, which is located in Mi’kma’ki- the unceded, ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which were first signed in 1725. These treaties did not involve surrendering land or resources, and instead recognized Mi’kmaq and Wəlastəkwiyik title. We acknowledge the Mi’kmaq people as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.
